My Story

Written by Claire Johnson

One year ago today I heard the dreaded words “Unfortunately you have breast cancer” …. That day my world crumbled!

But let me tell you over the last year I’ve worked very hard to put my life back together, even better than it was before! It will always feel weird. But today needs to be a day of celebration, because I am here, I am alive, I am well and I am healthy. Thanks Goodness.

Picking up the pieces of your life after cancer is one of the hardest things to do! We may look good on the outside but on the inside, it’s tough!

I have good days and I have bad days! But what I’ve learned on this journey is the amazing people I have met, the amazing people I have in my life, the times I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone, the goals I have set, and the changed person I have become!

I absolutely love life more than words can say! I really do appreciate all the little stuff a lot more these days!

Thank you to all my wonderful Family and Friends in my life. Who with strength have carried me through the toughest of times! You are my world and I love you, & owe you everything ❤️.

Remember, some days it pours with rain! But by eck when the sun comes out be sure to dance in the puddles!!

One year to the day after my traumatic news, I am launching my own breast cancer website with the aim of raising loads of money for 3 specific charities connected to Breast Cancer ;

MacMillan

Breast Cancer Now

St Wilfrid’s Hospice

This website will also be an ongoing support resource for people diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
